Below is a close up picture of our first ultrasound. The baby is just a little over 9 weeks here. We couldn’t believe the clarity that we could see it. It’s little heart could be heard and seen just pumping away at 185 bpm. I could also see it’s brain which leads me to believe it’s gonna be quite a smart kid. ; )
To keep things fun, we’re going to wait to hear the gender and in the meantime call it Widget.
On a sad note we had to sign a release from the state of California saying that we weren’t interested in testing to see if the baby had down syndrome. The doctor claimed that with technology today we can know in advance and many people like to know early if that’s the case. That seemed silly to me to do that kind of testing just to know early. So I asked the doctor if many couples decide to abort (kill) their babies if the tests come back that they are at risk for down syndrom and she stated without hesitation that yes, many couples do make that decision. We live in crazy times. Amazing how we are repulsed by Hitler killing Jews and handicapped individuals to make the perfect race but we don’t think anything of killing our own children to have the perfect child.
